Sidney (Adult male)
Sidney
Adopted on August 20, 2011

Barbara,

I wanted to let you know that Sidney and Jack have become best friends. All my friends are amazed at the way they play together. They are SO cute together! They quickly figured out how to overcome their size difference. What's 60 pounds between friends? Sidney has helped me meet quite a few people from the neighborhood who I had never met before-fellow Miniature Schnauzer parents, mostly, but quite a few folks haven't been able to resist petting him, which he loves. Turns out that Sid is very gregarious. He likes people of all shapes, ages, colors and sizes. He seems to especially like little boys. He's very gentle with children and lets them pet or hug him. It makes me wonder if he had small people in his former life.

Sidney is very active, and we go for a long walk most days. I've learned that a smart, energetic little guy like him needs plenty of exercise. He will walk a couple of miles with me, have a drink of water, and then be ready to chase squirrels in the back yard while I throw the Frisbee for Jack. Then he may have a short nap, but soon he's ready to play again. Jack is usually ready to play, too, but if he isn't, Sid will occupy himself with a toy or bone. He's really a great little guy.

Thanks for taking such good care of him and for letting me give him a forever home.

Warm wishes,

Barbara S.

Ebony Now Debbie (Young female)
Ebony Now Debbie
Adopted on July 16, 2011
Hi there,

I wanted to write a quick note to let you know how much my husband and I love Debbie (previously named Ebony). We could not imagine our lives without her. She is so sweet and loving. She even likes to give hugs!

When we adopted her in July she was hesitant to go to the restroom in our backyard. However, with a little persistence and training she shortly learned to go to the restroom and now even goes outside on her own sometimes!

She is very well behaved and loves her daily routine. She really enjoys her trips to the dog park and car rides!

I have attached a picture of Debbie in her Christmas shirt (she got a hair cut and was a little chilly) and myself. Thank you for helping us find our perfect match!

Best Regards,

Lizzy

Cooper (Young male)
Cooper
Adopted on July 15, 2010

(Cooper was a special needs adoption. He has chronic dry eye.)

Hi, Carol,

We are so happy with Cooper; he is the ideal dog, with the exception of his eye problem. He is quite a spoiled rescue dog these days. As you know, our finicky eater has put some meat on his bones and there is no way you could call him skinny these days. He still eats when he wants to and gets his special cooked chicken. Every once in a while he will deign to eat canned dog food.

We really enjoy having him and he has fit right in with our family. Still talking quite a bit, particularly when we come in from work, at dinner time and when he thinks he is going for a walk. I am enclosing a couple of recent pictures of him. Feel free to post them if you want to do so. His little eyes weren’t too crazy about the flash on the camera so they are a little squinty.

Hope you are enjoying the holidays. Copper sends a lick and a hug.

Ginger (Adult female)
Ginger
Adopted on September 2, 2011

Jason Heigl "Heal a Heart" Grant Recipient

Through the generosity of the Jason Heigl "Heal a Heart" Program, graciously funded by Nancy Heigl as a memorial to her son, Jason, we were able to rescue and treat Ginger for heartworms. As you can see by the note below, this sweet girl has blessed and touched the lives of many others.

Carole,

Just a note to let you know that Ginger and I are still doing well. She is such a joy to so many people, it is hard to describe. She still goes with me to all the nursing homes. Her first stop when she arrives is always the dining room, looking for crumbs on the floor. She knows where the dining room is in every building we visit. After we get that out of our system, she is off to visit staff and residents.

She waggles her way up to everyone she sees and asks to be petted and loved, and the staff and residents are glad to receive the love she gives them. She sits in laps and in beds and wheelchairs and gets petted and loved all day long. It is truly wonderful to see the smiles that she brings to everyone. She also visits all the neighbors along with me and plays well with their dogs.

I can’t thank you enough for saving her life for me and for all the others that she has touched.

Wishing you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR,

Robin

Good Morning Ilene,

Chester asked that I share his Christmas photo with you (Meagan left / Chester right). He has been a very good boy so I am sure that Santa will bring him lots of toys.

He is an amazing dog... I cannot imagine life without either of them. I admire you for being a foster parent because I cannot imagine having to give them up after getting attached to them. Just wanted to give you a Chester update and let you know that he is doing just fine and wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.

Have a great day.

Adopted on July 25, 2010

Carole,

Thank you for our beautiful little rescue, Madeline. She is so special and we love her dearly. I believe she rescued me. After losing my precious little Cleo, I was so sad and empty.

Our little "Maddie" brings so much joy and so much entertainment with her funny antics. She somehow has even picked up some of Cleo's tactics for getting fed when she wants to eat.

Joe and I are very happy we got to keep her. She's truly a blessing.

Sincerely,

Buckee (Young male)
Buckee
Adopted on November 23, 2011
Hi Sheryl,

Just wanted to give you an update on Buckee the Wonder Dog! He has been doing really well and has settled in nicely. Every morning he goes to the backyard, then comes and snuggles with me for an hour. We have breakfast and Michelle takes him for his walk about mid morning, except on the days I'm home when I take him. Every day we play some and train some, and then after dinner and our final walk we curl up on the couch for an hour before bedtime.

He loves going to Petsmart, especially for his training as he has made some friends there. He has a very gentle nature and knows when an animal or child is unsure of him and acts accordingly.

As a family we could not be happier and I am so grateful to have him in my life. Just wanted to give you an update and let you know how thankful we all are for your organization and for the joy Buckee has brought into our home.

Have a wonderful holiday and a safe and prosperous new year.

Thanks,

Vaughan, Michelle and Buckee

Adopted on November 21, 2008
Dear folks,

This is our beautiful, sweet Shelby we adopted three years ago at Thanksgiving. She is such a joy and we love her so much!

I couldn't resist sending this cute shot of Miss Shelby on her riding mower! It was a beautiful day last January and during some yard work, she wanted to wander and roam. We "asked" her to sit on the mower and enjoy the sunshine. Isn't she a fine specimen? The wind was blowing quite a breeze that day.

Thank you for all the great work you do!

Snap (Adult female)
Snap
Adopted on July 25, 2011
Sheryl and Pam,

Well, I decided it is time to get you an update on Arlee (formerly Snap). All I can say is that we can't imagine life without her. She has brought so much joy and fun to our home. Our Missy (7 years old) was beginning to get a little too comfy laying around all day and Arlee has certainly brought the energy she needed.

I was driving home from Arlington (hence Arlee) and was so worried that she wasn't quite as perfect as Missy and worried my husband wouldn't be excited about having the new addition. She wrapped him around her paw nearly immediately. She had a little run in with a plant in the flower bed because of her never ending curiosity after being with us for only 6 days. After a trip to the emergency clinic, a cone around the head and a week of antibiotics in the eye she was as good as new. We often find ourselves just sitting and watching the girls play.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to adopt her. I will never consider another dog unless they are a rescue. The love they give you is just incredible. Please see the attached picture. Arlee, our new baby, is on the left with the one bent ear and Missy, her big sister, is on the right.

Thanks,
Joni Willer

Sunshine
Adopted on July 20, 2010

Just a quick note to let you know that Miss Sunshine has been with me for a year today. Well actually it was last Labor Day when my grandaughter and I came to your house and picked her up. Thank you so much for taking care of this precious girl so that she could come live with me and fill that empty spot in my heart. She is soooo precious.

Miss Sunshine is very healthy and I am thankful for that. She is very over-protective of me but that is a good thing since I am not always able to hear. She lets me know if anyone is around.

Hope things are going good for you and all the "little" ones you are taking care of.

Your friends in Andrews,

Nancy and Miss Sunshine

Jester Now Benny (Young male)
Jester Now Benny
Adopted on November 11, 2009

Dear MSRNT,

We adopted Benny (foster name Jester) in November of 2009. Benny fit right in and loves his new forever home. He gradually learned about all his new surroundings and his personality has really come out since he now knows this is his home and he will always be with us.

He has a large back yard that he patrols and spends a lot of his free time there chasing after squirrels on the fence, watching the ducks in the pool and just laying in the sun. After a time we gave him access to his dog door to the back yard and he learned pretty quickly how to use it.

Benny really likes his daily walks with us around the neighborhood or at the park. He has become quite a talker when it comes time for his walks and then he does his little happy dance in circles. After wearing himself out with all of that he cuddles up in the bed at night next to his mom and dad. Every few weeks he gets to go to doggie day care to play with lots of friends and loves to go in the car and on trips.

We are all very happy together.

Bubba816 Now Benji (Young male)
Bubba816 Now Benji
Adopted on July 14, 2011
Dear MSRNT,

All is well with Bubba, who is now named "Benji." We gave him that name because the original dog in the first Benji film was rescued from an animal shelter in Burbank, CA... since this is our first "rescue" dog, we thought Bubba would make a good Benji. He has that impish look in his face--not quite as straggly as Benji, but he is every bit as cute.

He and Heidi are inseparable. They play constantly until they are worn out, then they sleep. Heidi is definitely top dog. They are both sleeping well throughout the night. For just two days, he is acting like he's right at home. He's really a good dog, smart, and he is calming down much faster than I had anticipated.

Thanks for the good work you do with lost and abandoned dogs. We're glad we found Benji.

Blessings,

Sandy

Korkie Now Sarge (Young male)
Korkie Now Sarge
Adopted on September 11, 2009
Tami,

Thought you might enjoy an update on Sarge. He has become a part of the family... He definitely runs our homestead! He stills loves playing fetch and tug-of-war with his stuffed tub toys. We have to buy new ones when the old ones wear out, but we usually have at least two of them around. We have found another toy he just loves. It is a soft light squeaky light green ball he keeps in the back yard. He will wear himself out playing fetch!

When his cousin (Jojo, white miniature) comes to play, they are like two peas in a pod! You would think they are brothers. Sarge is the dominant of the two. I would have never believed that after first seeing him and how cowering he was. He is definitely not shy any more! He never meets a stranger, human or animal. I have taken him severals times to Petco with me. He is always a hit with every one!

I just wanted you to know how much joy he has brought to both my wife and myself. We just love him so much! Thank you again for the service you do!

Matty Now Cooper (Adult male)
Matty Now Cooper
Adopted on May 18, 2011

Tami,

Cooper is doing great. He had his first road trip to Austin this past weekend to visit his wiener dog cousins. He and JC did really well in the car, especially on the way back. They were both sacked out all the way back from Austin for 3 1/2 hrs! No moving, nothing. So, I'd say they had a great time.

He and JC play a lot, I mean a lot! They are always wrestling or chasing each other. One cute thing is when they are both on their backs and jaw-boning each other. They seem to take turns dominating so I don't see one or the other as the alpha - at least not from what I know or see.

JC is not a kisser, but Cooper will give 'em all day and wag the ink dipped tail happily while doing so.

I'll bring the clown and clown apprentice to a M&G sometime soon.

Have a fun week,

Ted

Tammy Now Riley (Young female)
Tammy Now Riley
Adopted on June 18, 2011
Good morning Denice and Sheryl,

We just love Tammy so much. We did decide to rename her Riley. We chose Riley because it means courageous.

She loves sleeping on her back with all four up in the air. Silly girl. She loves going for walks, and Max is trying to show her how to do it without tangling me up in the process. She also loves running circles around him in the backyard like a ball of energy set free!

She loves our leather sandals and my t-shirts. We are working on not chewing on the sandals and not stealing my t-shirts from the laundry pile when I am sorting laundry. She has found her voice and barks outside only when she and Max run the fence with the neighbor dogs on the other side. Okay by me! It is super cute how it is more "girlie" and higher pitched.

It has only been a week and we cannot imagine our family without her.

Hugs,

Missy, Mike, Riley, Max & Felix

Sox Now Abby (Adult female)
Sox Now Abby
Adopted on May 18, 2011
Barbara and Richard,

Abby continues to make good progress, although there's still plenty of standoffish in her. She's taken a liking to a particular toy (a stuffed blue bone), although she doesn't seem to know what to do with it.

I took a short business trip last week, so Abby and Pepper stayed with our groomer for two nights. Abby did well and was quickly going and coming with all the other Schnauzers at Kelly's house. When I got back, Abby came to greet me. She didn't come close enough to touch, but she was definitely glad I was there. The next morning I took the belly rub photo. She didn't come to me, but she let me approach her and pick her up. After the belly rub, she laid in that position for a half hour, just savoring being relaxed. Patrick and Abby continue to build a good relationship, too. Abby approaches him every day, just close enough for a pat on the head.

We frequently sit outside in the evenings and always take the girls out with us when we go. At first Abby would just sit down somewhere and stay put. The last couple of nights, she's been of a mind to explore the yard more. She and Pepper have started hunting geckos together, too. Life at our house seems pretty nice for everyone right now.

Woof Woof from Sanger........................

I just wanted to let you know how much fun I am having in my new home. My Mom and Dad take me up to my Uncle Bob's ranch and we take a great walk every day. There are so many smells up there I just about go nuts. There are all these different critter foot prints, like wild turkeys, deer, raccoons and probably lots of others too.

I went to the beauty shop and got a shorter cut so I didn't get so matted. I have some spray that my Mom will use as I grow out to stop all of the mats.

When my Dad takes me for a walk early in the morning, I get to say hi to different people and they say what a handsome dog I am.

My latest trick (I think it is a trick) is picking up my food bowl in my mouth and going out my doggie door and then dumping the food in the grass. I don't spill a thing either until I get outside. My Mom said she wished she had the camera with her when that happened. They switched bowls on me so now I can't do that trick anymore. I am showing you a sad face.

I don't bolt at the door anymore. In fact if someone goes out into the garage or outside I stay and am a good boy. I still do some pacing back and forth to the front door around 5 p.m. Then I get played with to change the mood. That will probably get better down the road.

My Mom and Dad always play with me but sometimes I am told not to be a Bossy Bear and then I have to chew on my bone and chill. I get lots of attention and lots of love and kisses and massages too! I think I will stay here for a long, long time.

Doggie kisses to you,

Wiggles

Piper #681 (Young female)
Piper #681
Adopted on July 12, 2010
MSRNT

We just wanted to write and tell you what a joy Piper has brought to our home. We adopted her in late July 2010 and we really can't remember what it was like before she came to live with us. She is the sweetest, most well mannered little girl we have ever seen.

Piper loves to go for walks and especially enjoys looking out the large sunroom windows overlooking the pool -- she gets to see lots of birds, squirrels and even some ducks. Of course then she must go out and "patrol" her yard to make sure that they all know that this is Piper's yard.

She especially loves her stuffed toys -- a pink monkey and a multi colored little lamb are probably her very favorites. She also loves to chase the ball and can spend hours chewing on a nylabone.

She is not a big barker but instead seems to prefer to talk with you -- she has the most wonderful little bark and howl and truly seems to chatter with you when you come home.

Thank you MSNRT for all that you do and for helping us to find Piper.

Gary Now JC ( male)
Gary Now JC
Adopted on June 15, 2010

Hi Jane,

JC is doing well and way too settled in. He runs the house now! He is actually at doggie daycare today to hopefully get tired out and give his Dad a break tonight. All my friends and neighbors that have met him really think he's a great guy. And of course, he is. He is going for a shave and shower tomorrow. Of course it will rain for sure on Saturday and he won't be walking on the sidewalk to preserve his fresh cut either. There will most likely be a bunny to get him running though a yard in the wet grass.

He does get a little mischievous every once and a while. It must be boredom because it is only about once a week or so. Nothing major, but enough to get told he's a bad boy. We really enjoyed, at least I did, the walks at night through the neighborhood with all the Christmas lights. Last night felt really ho-hum since everyone has taken them down. But, I still get at least three walks a day whether I want them or not.

Take care and he'll be at a meet and greet sometime.

Sheryl,

How do I begin to let you know how much we love Jack (Frisby)? He is such a good boy. He is sweet, loving, and always so happy. He has never had a potty accident and we can leave him out of his kennel and he does not bother a thing, not even the Christmas Tree or packages under the tree.

He loves living in the country. He barks at all the animals and birds. He loves to walk with us and play ball.

Thank you so much for matching us with such a sweet little guy. As Bill said, our house came alive when Jack walked in the door!

Thank you again and we wish MSRNT a wonderful 2011.

Jet is so much fun!

The kids are doing great with him. My daughter has him sit before giving his bowl...just like you said. He follows me around the house when the kids aren't there. It's been cold, but he still loves his walks. Everyone just loves him!

He loves playing with the tennis ball in the backyard. I was wearing these fuzzy suede boots and throwing the ball to him and in the air and such. He got so excited he started patting the furry balls that tie on my boots:) Too cute!!

This will melt your heart. My son's class had a visitor who has a special helper dog for those with special needs. The speaker asked who had pets at home, and he was thrilled to raise his hand! He is so proud to tell everyone he has a dog now! I had no idea how much he missed our first Boo: (He loves it when Jett looks up at him while he is petting him and loving him.)

All is good! Thanks for checking in.

Zoe ( female)
Zoe
Adopted on March 18, 2006
Hello MSRNT:

It has been my wish to write to you after so many years of sharing the love and joy of our family with a dog rescued from your organization.

We adopted a Miniature Schnauzer, Zoe, from EllenMarie's foster care back on March 18, 2006 I believe. What a wonderful day that was. I clearly remember the anticipation of meeting our first and forever companion after driving for five hours to Dallas on a cold rainy day. The day after that was beautiful and warm after bringing Zoe home.

We no longer live in Houston, where we lived when we first brought her home, but have moved to the northeast states. Almost five years have passed by, and adopting from your rescue has been the most positive experience we have had. Zoe has transformed from her shy self and is now a playful, devoted dog lady who never leaves you out of sight. One thing she always loves is a baby carrot after doing a trick she has learned -- she learned nearly ten (okay, it's not THAT impressive, but she does anything for a carrot)! She is still very dainty, mellow, and polite as she has always been. She also does this cute little thing where she presses her head against your chest right near your heart when she wants you to pet her. :) We will never forget the years which have past and the many years to come. If we move back to Texas and wish for another lovely Schnauzer, we know which rescue to look to. What a prayer that has been answered!

Thank you so, so much for this wonderful Schnauzer.

Splash now Isabella (Adult female)
Splash now Isabella
Adopted on October 30, 2010
Sheryl,

I just wanted to send along an Isabella update. She is such a good little girl and continues to come out of her shell a little more each day. She almost has the stairs mastered, as I put her down one step earlier each day. I really though that she was going to come down by herself this morning, but I had to go and get her and put on the first step and then she went down with no problems. Going up this morning, I put her on the bottom step and she an one of my other dogs went up in FRONT of me.

She still struggles with strangers wanting to pet her, but we still make our regular trips to PetCo once or twice a week. We usually see the trainer there and she has given me some good tips that seem to be helping, but this one will take a little longer than most to get accustomed to strangers.

I hope that you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Adopted on July 30, 2010
Hello to all!

I have been meaning to drop you a note for ages to let you know how much my family and I are in love with our JAX (formerly known as IGGY)! After the death of our beloved schnauzer, Bandit, at the age of 15, it was as if God sent Jax specifically to us to heal our hearts and enable us to fall in love all over again with a canine.

His spunky nature fits in perfectly with my 19-year old son and his friends (he can be frequently found playing ball with them, going jogging, or lounging in the room with them while they watch movies). His new mom is thrilled to have a lively dog to accompany her on her daily walk!

Yet he is also the most gentle, loving dog we have ever seen -- he absolutely LOVES everyone! He has already travelled on several car trips with us and is always quite the gentleman. The joy he has brought us is immeasurable, and we hope to adopt a buddy for him in the not too distant future.

Thank you for all the wonderful work you do, and for all the happy dogs and owners you unite!

Buddy #633
Adopted on September 19, 2010
Hi, thank you for the opportunity to adopt Buddy.

We just wanted to let you know that Buddy is doing great with our family and we're really enjoying his company.

It was a little challenging at first to teach him to walk on a leash without pulling. He gets super excited anytime he gets to go ANYWHERE! It's as if he never got to see the outside world his whole life. He has overcome his fear of so many things over the past weeks. We can now take him to an outdoor restaurant and he will calmly sit outside under our table without barking--that one took a few tries. We've travelled with him to Austin and back and he loved the adventure. We also frequent the dog parks and he loves to play with his "sister" Kona, and hang with the BIG dogs. He follows his new mommy around anywhere she goes and always obeys. We even let him sleep in our bed at our feet and he doesn't make a move or peep most nights. He's a good little guy and we love him so much!

Attached are some Halloween pics we took over the weekend. Hope to stay in touch with the schnauzer rescue!

Ronan now Tiller (Puppy male)
Ronan now Tiller
Adopted on July 20, 2010
Ellen Marie:

Let me update you on Tiller who is now 8 months old. It has taken us all some time to find our way to adjusting to a new puppy in the household. After chewing up my telephone charger (happily repaired by my husband) and then chewing thru the electric wire to the digital photo frame (again, happily repaired by same husband), we decided that this might be the perfect time to introduce Tiller to the time honored "bone" for chewing. All is well so far and I am happy to report that no wires or cords have been chewed on since.

We simply adore the little, excuse me...not little guy (he turned out a bit larger than we were expecting but we love all of him, and he us as well.) He goes camping, walking and plays along the water. He does swim well, but he has to wear his lifejacket. We live on the lake so there is no shortage of ducks, birds and squirrels for him to observe.

Tiller has graduated from puppy school and plans are to go back for more school when the weather is warmer. I am attaching a photo of Tiller and the happy husband on graduation day.

Thank you for bringing us together. Our family is quite happy and full of love.

Buddy was Big Tex
Adopted on May 3, 2010
MSRNT and Foster EllenMarie,

Life is good with our "Buddy" (you called him "Big Tex"). After losing my Schnauzer Scruffy, I said I didn't want another dog and to have to go through such heart ache, however, Buddy came to live with us. Here we are three years (and three Schnauzers) later and he's really a special part of the family.

It took some time for him to adjust and warm up to us and realize he was "home" and wouldn't have to find another place to stay but once he did... he makes sure to get his share of love, attention and treats.

Along with Buddy you'll see pictures of our other two rescue Schnauzers Travett, black one, and Buddy's playmate. We also have our little girl, Rylee, our oldest who is now blind, a diabetic and she takes insulin twice a day.

Since our daughters have all moved out the dogs are our babies and are spoiled rotten!

Hope you enjoy seeing our Buddy, he's my big boy and I love him!

Thanks for allowing me to adopt him.

I was wondering if you were still fostering schnauzers with the MSRNT. We are looking to adopt another furry friend. We love Scooby so much and he is such a good dog, we thought we might a "Shaggy" to the mix! We love schnauzers! Please let me know if you are still fostering and if you know about any of the following dogs we would like to meet, and possible set up play dates for them to meet us and Scooby.

Regards,

Erin Skillett

Winston (Puppy male)
Winston
Adopted on January 1, 2009
April,

How are you? I am sure many schnauzers have come and gone from your home since little Winston became part of my family. I wanted to give you an update on his wonderful life. He is now one and is tall and long. He has so much energy and is just my little joy. He chews his toys and still has his kong bone you gave him.

I have attached a few pictures of our little boy. As you will see he is quite the dog wisperer fan, and will actually watch the show, he doesn't listen, but he watches!! :)

He also had a blast in the snow playing with his brother, Toby. He and Toby nap together and play together so well. I could not have asked for a better buddy for Toby.

Thank you again for all the love you gave him.

Bandit (Adult male)
Bandit
Adopted on August 30, 2008
We adopted Bandit on August 30, 2008. We had lost our seven year old Standard Schnauzer to cancer just four months prior. Bandit came into the care of MSRNT the same week we lost Ende. Underweight, with mange and other health issues, Bandit was in sad shape. But with the love and dedication of MSRNT, vets, Bark and Purr and his foster dad, Bill, Bandit is now thriving. We train at Dog City Training Center in Carrollton, where he is a star pupil. (http://www.dogcitytrainingcenter.com)

He brings so much joy to our lives and makes me laugh every day.

Thank you MSRNT!
